Evolution of a Vision
The Eminent African Series (EAS) is the natural expansion of the original Eminent Nigerian Series (ENS), a visionary ethical reawakening initiative conceived by leading voices within the Diaspora. The project was established to restore and promote the timeless values that once defined Nigeria’s moral and civic leadership. Through carefully documented biographies of distinguished Nigerians, it sought to inspire youth, strengthen national identity, and revive a culture of integrity, discipline, and service.
Having successfully laid this intellectual and ethical foundation within Nigeria, the initiative now expands its scope to the African continent.

While the continent is rich in human capital, natural resources, and cultural depth, it continues to grapple with:
- Political instability
- Governance deficits
- Corruption
- Youth unemployment

- Institutional erosion

- Brain drain
At the same time, Africa is home to individuals whose leadership, discipline, intellectual rigour, and patriotism demonstrate that a different trajectory is possible. The EAS does not dwell on decline. It advances a corrective narrative, one rooted in evidence, biography, and values.
Through EAS, we seek to confront our reality not by lamenting the past, but by reviving and promoting the ethical legacies of Africa’s finest sons and daughters. Their stories offer a roadmap for a return to a society guided by integrity, empathy, discipline, and national pride.
THE EMINENT AFRICAN SERIES
Each volume in the series focuses on a specific ethical dilemma confronting the country. Through the compelling life stories of selected Eminent Africans, the series illustrates how values-based leadership, personal discipline, and civic responsibility can offer practical solutions to these continental challenges. The books are written in a simple, accessible style, designed to resonate with readers of all ages and backgrounds, making the lessons relatable, digestible, and impactful.
PASSAGE OF TIME: A CONTINENT AT CROSSROADS
It is widely acknowledged that much of Africa, is no longer what it used to be. The values that once stood as cornerstones of pride and collective identity have, over the years, been eroded by a host of complex social and political challenges.
Africa stands at a defining historical moment.
Sadat, Wole Soyinka, Ellen Johnson Sirleaf, plus several statesmen and women dead and alive who have one unique quality or the other that can be taught to the younger generation. They and others, including the subject of this edition, have one main thing in common – A major quality that separates them from the rest of the pack.
The EAS seeks to encourage young Africans and the future leaders by promoting the ethical values that African heroes represent through a look at their lives. This will be used to mobilize Africans for the good of Africa for them to emulate the values, which those leaders represent.

PROMOTING THESE CORE VALUES TO AFRICA
The Eminent African Series will be promoted in collaboration with the Ministries of Information, Offices of the Special Advisers to the Presidents on Ethics and Values, and the National orientation agencies across the continent.
The second phase of this campaign will be in collaboration with the Federal and States Ministries of Education. The objective is to admit these booklets into the curricula of the Civic classes in schools and to plant the message in the psyche of Africans.

By showcasing the lives of outstanding Africans who exemplify ethical leadership. The EAS project aims to ignite a new sense of national identity, one that sets Africa apart as a continent driven by values, vision, and virtue.
